1961

1961:
We slowed down this year, at least on moves.  There were two:  one to a little house in South Dallas, then back to Southern Oaks apartments, where we had lived the year before.  In November Amy was born, and our count was up to four little ones.  By this time I think the family had decided we would have twenty kids.  The car was now a ’53 Oldsmobile.  Dad still worked at Collins Radio in Richardson.  This was probably a mixture of happy times and increasing pressures.  It got harder to feed six people, and Dad was realizing that being a maintenance man was not exactly what he had predicted for his life.  But he kept on.  Christmas that year is sort of vague.  I think we went to Grandma’s.  Shortly after Christmas was the time we went to Shady Grove and got snowed in for several days and stayed with Roy and Lureta.
